Keeping a putty line stable across winter and summer batches
A putty producer was reformulating twice a year to compensate for seasonal humidity, which created extra validation work and inconsistent stock.

Background
Seasonal humidity changed the handling of the same dry mix. Operators compensated by adding water at the mixer, which shifted the final consistency and led to complaints about sanding effort.
What was tested
The producer mapped water demand across a humidity range for one grade, then set a mixing instruction with an allowed water window. A small CMC addition improved green strength without changing sanding behaviour.
Outcome
The line ran on one grade for the full year, with water adjustment documented per season. Seasonal reformulation was no longer required.
This note is illustrative. It describes a typical formulation situation rather than a named client engagement. Confirm the applicable grade and dosage with trial batches before production.
