Reducing slip in a heavy-tile adhesive for a Southeast Asian producer
A producer moving to large-format tiles needed an adhesive that held position on vertical walls without sacrificing open time in a hot, humid climate.

Background
The producer had recently added large-format porcelain tiles to its range. The existing adhesive passed laboratory tests at standard conditions but showed slip on site when mixed at the water ratio used on the production line.
What was tested
Three HPMC grades were compared at a fixed RDP dosage. Each mix was tested for open time, slip and tensile bond strength after standard curing. Mixing water was adjusted per grade to reach a consistent consistency rather than a fixed water ratio.
Outcome
The medium viscosity grade gave the best balance: slip was controlled without shortening open time beyond the local working window. The selected grade and dosage were recorded as a reference for subsequent batches.
This note is illustrative. It describes a typical formulation situation rather than a named client engagement. Confirm the applicable grade and dosage with trial batches before production.
